In the female pelvis the surgeon has to deal with different considerations.

• Specific anatomical land marks define the limits of the operating field as in any other surgical field.

• Nerve sparing surgery becomes mandatory to retain the function of the different organs.

• Pressure gradients in the different compartments play an important role in the postoperative success rate for suspension surgery.

• The interaction, anatomical and functional, of the different organs is very important to guarantee a normal behaviour, both on the sexual and voiding aspects of daily live.

These factors make surgery in the human female pelvis challenging. A thorough knowledge not only of pelvic anatomy, vascular- nervous- muscular-ligamental- fascial-virtual and physical spaces (foramina) and bony, but also of the mechanical forces and of the physiological processes is therefore necessary.

Assistant Gynecologist at the Columbus Hospital in Rome from 1979 to 2003. Lecturer professor at the Specialization School in Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Chieti University in 1995, 96 and 97. Lecturer professor of Gynecologic Endoscopy at the Specialization School in Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Perugia University in 1995, 96, 97 and 98. He achieved the acknowledgment as Gynecologic Laparoscopist from the Accreditation Council of Advanced Gynecologic Laparoscopy. He has been qualified as “expert laparoscopist” by the SEGi (Italian Society of Gynecologic Endoscopy). He was consulting Endoscopic Gynecologist at the “Villa Valeria” Clinic in Rome from 2002 to 2008. He is consulting Endoscopic Gynecologist at Nuova Villa Claudia Hospital in Rome since 2008. In 2007 he was elected as Member of the International Advisory Board of SLS. Dr. Rossetti has been teaching laparoscopy in many courses both in Italy and abroad. Permanent professor during the Indo-German Training Courses at the University of Kiel, Germany. Dr. Rossetti is Responsible for the Suturing Courses of SEGi, Italian Society of Gynecological Laparoscopy: for the same Society he is permanent member of the Didactic Committee. He is a member of the Board and of the training committe of the ISGE (International Society of Gynecological Endoscopy).
