A true hermaphrodite is one of the rarest disorders of sexual differentiation. The commonest presentation is abnormal external genitalia, but can range from normal male to normal female in appearance. Other presenting symptoms can be haematuria, amenorrhea, lower abdominal pain and even inguinal hernia.

Presented here is a case of a true hermaphrodite who presented with an inguinal hernia.

Tom completed his specialty training at Monash Health, where he then completed a two year AGES accredited advanced laparoscopic fellowship. After completing this fellowship Tom then went onto do a one year fellowship in reproductive medicine at the Royal Women's Hospital and Melbourne IVF. He now continues to work as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Monash Health with a private practice in Melbourne's south east, focusing on minimally invasive surgery and infertility
