Dr. Supuni Kapurubandara is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist currently working at Westmead private hospital, Auburn public and Westmead public hospitals. She completed her specialist training at Westmead network and went on to complete a two year fellowship accredited by Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy Surgery Society (AGES).
Her particular interests include ongoing education, research and training in gynaecology and colposcopy.
She is currently involved in running gynaecology, colposcopy, contraception clinics and gynaecological operating lists.
She oversees surgical education of specialist trainees across the Western Sydney local health district and runs frequent workshops, simulation based learning opportunities and lectures. Her continued involvement as an associate clinical lecturer for University of Sydney enables her to be involved in ongoing medical student teaching and research. She is currently the supervisor for RANZCOG and AGES trainee research projects which focus on gynaecological surgery, colposcopy and early pregnancy issues.
In the past she has served as a board member for the (AGES) and was a member of the NSW RANZCOG regional committee where she was the state reference chair (SRC).
More recently she started her three-year tenure as the President of the Western Sydney obstetrics and gynaecology society (WOGS) which targets to maintain and promote networking, educational and research opportunities amongst the Nepean, Liverpool and Westmead O&G training networks in NSW. She is also currently a co-opted member of the Australian Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP). She remains engaged with medical education as an Associate Clinical Lecturer for the University of Sydney where she continues her research and teaching.
